SC isn't really so much of a grammar jackal, especially as regards punctuation. More of a laughing hyena. Still, in the spirit of Mark Liberman's recent forays into complaining about accent marks, edgy graphic design, and flat-out ungrammaticality in ads (if Infiniti doesn't make their numbers this quarter, Prof. L. might want to start varying the routes he takes to get home), your host presents this text from a Ketel One vodka ad, as seen on the back cover of the May 2005 Robb Report:
Dear Ketel One Drinker
We know you're not influenced
by what other people drink,
however, we thought you might
like to know Arnold Palmer
drinks Ketel One.
Dear Ketel One Advertising Copywriters,
SC knows you're not influenced by style guides
when it comes to the placement of commas or semicolons;
however, he thought you might
like to know he has a small bottle
of Ketel One in his liquor cabinet.
So please don't kill him for pointing this out.
