SC has no idea, but he imagines Cuyler Frank does. Mr. Frank, a student at New Mexico State University, will broadcast the school's upcoming
loss game against the UC Berkeley football team tomorrow. There is no way NMSU wins the game, but it's nevertheless a milestone for both the school (first game broadcast in Navajo) and the Navajos (first college game, but apparently not first football game).
The article is interesting, but perpetuates the usual cliche about languages having "no word for" something, in this case first downs, there presumably being no way to describe it otherwise in the language. The Language Loggers have had their fun with that topic on numerous occasions; SC will restrict himself to observing that if baseball could be covered in French, surely football can be done in Navajo.
